Danish biotech occupies 3rd position in Europe

Measured in the number of products in the pipeline, Danish biotech companies hold a clear 3rd position in the European league. This announcement is in a global survey of the biotech industry where both quoted and private Danish companies are up front, announces this.
Surpassed only by Great Britain and Switzerland, Denmark together with Germany is 3rd in Europa when it comes to the number of products that the quoted biotech companies have in their pipelines. This appears in a newly published survey of 2006 prepared by the consultancy Ernst & Young that each year measures the global biotech industry and publishes the report Global Biotechnology Report, writes the journal Ingeniøren.
The private Danish biotech companies are also among the leading companies and hold a 4th with 9 per cent of the entire European products under development in private companies. Top of the list is Germany with 19 per cent followed by Great Britain and France with 13 and 11 per cent.
Looking at all the European countries, Ernst & Young have registered a total of 1494 biotechnological products under development. These are divided on 686 products in pre-clinical phase and 133 in phase III. The quoted companies in general have more products under late development than have the private.
