Denmark needs skilled talent. Is coffee a solution?
Aug 18, 2026A new initiative from Copenhagen Capacity uses coffee to connect Danish companies with international candidates.

What if the most important step towards your next job isn’t a strong CV, but a cup of coffee?
That is the thinking behind Career Coffee, a new initiative from the foundation Copenhagen Capacity, which aims to connect Danish companies and international candidates.
In Denmark, informal coffee meetings are a major part of the culture surrounding networking and job searching. In fact, the phenomenon has its very own term: “kaffemøder”.
The tradition of coffee meetings has inspired Copenhagen Capacity to use coffee as a way of bringing international candidates and Danish employers together – while also giving newcomers important insight into the culture surrounding job searching in Denmark.
“Many Danish companies are experiencing challenges recruiting skilled candidates. At the same time, Denmark has a group of highly qualified international talents who want to build their careers here, but who often lack the network. Career Coffee is our latest and very concrete way of bringing these two groups together, while also communicating the Danish coffee meeting culture,” says Asbjørn Overgaard, CEO of Copenhagen Capacity.
From a cup of coffee to a job match
In collaboration with coffee roastery Impact Roasters, a specially developed Career Coffee blend is being launched and sent to companies across Denmark with an invitation to invite more international candidates in. The coffee will also be served at business and career events, where many international specialists participate.
Together with the coffee comes an invitation to join Copenhagen Capacity’s job portal A State of Denmark, where companies in Denmark can connect with highly qualified international candidates who either want to move to Denmark or are already living here.
