Startup chooses Copenhagen for the city's leading position in bioeconomy

Jun 9, 2026 Interact Energy brings biotechnology innovation to Denmark’s growing bioeconomy ecosystem with Copenhagen Capacity’s support.

Interact Energy, a Bulgarian bioeconomy startup, has established a strategic presence in Copenhagen. The company develops high-performance biofertilizers from wastewater residues, combining microbial science, precision agriculture, and digital tools. This allows farmers to regenerate soils, improve crop yields, and track ESG performance, while also contributing to closing urban waste loops through resource recovery and circular solutions.

By establishing in Copenhagen, the company becomes part of Denmark’s growing bioeconomy ecosystem, gaining access to world-class research institutions, life science clusters, and a business environment deeply committed to sustainable innovation.

“Interact Energy’s technology represents exactly the kind of sustainable innovation that strengthens Denmark’s position in the global bioeconomy. We are proud to have supported their establishment and look forward to seeing them grow from Copenhagen,” - says Asbjørn Overgaard, CEO at Copenhagen Capacity.

Copenhagen Capacity’s support was “instrumental” says CEO

Copenhagen Capacity supported Interact Energy with legal and operational setup in Denmark, alongside the development of a clear roadmap for partnerships with key clusters, hubs, and accelerators to enable R&D activities and pilot collaborations. This included introductions to Food & Bio Cluster Denmark, DTU Science Park and DTU Science Park Startup Awards programme, and connections to Grant Thornton for advisory support. Copenhagen Capacity also facilitated engagement with the BioInnovation Institute to support future growth opportunities.

As a result of these connections, Interact Energy has now joined DTU Science Park and will begin collaborating with the university and innovation ecosystem to advance its research and business development activities in Denmark.

“We chose Denmark because it is the global epicenter of the bioeconomy and green transition.  Copenhagen Capacity’s Green Transition team was instrumental in validating this choice, providing the strategic counselling and deep industry insights needed to align our model with the Danish ecosystem,” - says Yanko Stoyanov, Founder & CEO of Interact Energy.

With Interact Energy’s Copenhagen presence now established, the company is set to deepen its R&D activities, expand its pilot collaborations, and further integrate into Denmark’s thriving ecosystem for science-based, sustainable agricultural solutions.
