Smart street lighting in Copenhagen
29 April 2015
Copenhagen will install 10,000 LED street lights, making Copenhagen one of the first cities in the world to use intelligent street lighting.
New energy efficient LED street lights will soon illuminate the streets of Copenhagen, reducing energy costs by up to 70 percent and carbon emissions accordingly.
Fully implemented, Copenhagen will be one of the first cities in the world to use intelligent technology in street lighting. Owing to a wireless control system, the new street lights will automatically adjust brightness to traffic flow, and the luminaires are ready for integration with future communication devices such as cameras. The new street lights are designed by Thorn Lighting.
