A new analysis conducted by the international business magazine, Forbes, places Coloplast, Carlsberg and Novo Nordisk among the 100 most innovative companies in the world. Furthermore, the rankings make Denmark the Nordic leader in innovation.
It is Coloplast which is ranked by far the highest of the three Danish companies, coming 12th on the list of the 100 most innovative companies in the world. Carlsberg and Novo Nordisk are ranked 66th and 70th and are thus still in a better position than companies like Apple and Adidas.
The list is based on a so-called innovation premium, defined by Forbes as “a measure of how much investors have bid up the stock price of a company above the value of its existing business based on expectations of future innovative results (new products, services and markets)”.
Moreover, the companies on the list must have $10 billion in market capitalization, spend at least 2.5% of revenue on R&D and have seven years of public data.
In this regard, Coloplast, Carlsberg and Novo Nordisk score an innovation premium of 46.5 %, 25.1% and 23.4 % respectively.
