Creative and entertainment
In the beginning of 2013, the new Copenhagen Film Fund was officially established. Now the person to steer the fund in the right direction has been found. The newly appointed Managing Director is the very experienced filmmaker Thomas Gammeltoft. He will start work on 1 September from his office located at Copenhagen Capacity, trying to secure growth and jobs for the Capital Region
Thomas Gammeltoft has produced a large number of successful Danish films and TV series and he is currently completing a major US/British film, "Good People", based in London.
He therefore brings a depth of experience and a strong network in both the Danish and international film industry to his new position, working to ensure that international films and TV series are produced in Greater Copenhagen.
-The momentum behind Denmark’s TV and film industry is unprecedented. We are winning awards, and our creative people both in front of and behind the camera are popular and attractive forces internationally. A film fund in Copenhagen may well be the icing on the cake for Danish and international films and television series and create growth in the capital. It is long overdue and it is a great honour for me to be allowed to be involved in the Film Fund from the very beginning, says Thomas Gammeltoft.
Copenhagen Capacity, together with the Producers' Association, supported the City of Copenhagen in working to gather support and funding for the film fund, which aims to attract international film and television productions to the metropolitan area in order to create jobs and growth in the region's creative industries. The Film Fund’s secretariat is also located at Copenhagen Capacity.
-The Film Fund gives Copenhagen a great opportunity to capitalize on Denmark's successful film industry. The Capital Region has creative talent, production companies of high international standard and a strong infrastructure - in short, the whole basis for attracting international film productions. The Film Fund will make a positive contribution to further boosting the television and film community in the region, says Claus Lønborg, Managing Director of Copenhagen Capacity.
The Fund is financed by contributions from the City of Copenhagen, The Capital Region, seven surrounding municipalities and a number of private investors and professional organisations in the film and television industry.
