Denmark is the second-best performing innovation leader in the EU according to the 2017 European Innovation Scoreboard.

The European Innovation Scoreboard provides a comparative analysis of innovation performance in EU Member States, other European countries, and regional neighbours.

New indicators in the 2017 edition capture investments in skills, digital readiness, entrepreneurship, and public-private innovation partnerships.

Denmark has an innovation-friendly environment

Denmark takes the second place among the EU countries, performing above the EU average in close to all dimensions. Most notably in:

  • Attractive research systems.
  • Top R&D spending enterprises (per 10m population).
  • R&D expenditure in public sector.
  • Innovative SMEs collaborating with others.
  • PCT patent and trademark applications.
  • New doctorate graduates.
