Denmark rockets up global retail e-commerce index

Denmark is up 12 spots to the 15th place in the Global Retail E-commerce Index 2015 by A.T. Kearney. Denmark is no. 6 in Europe and no. 1 in the Nordics.
Holding the overall 15th place, Denmark takes the top spot in the sub-index consumer behaviour and performs very well in the sub-index infrastructure, including credit cards per households and the availability and quality of logistics providers.
No. 1 in the Nordics
Denmark is no. 6 in Europe and no. 1 in the Nordics with neighbouring Sweden no. 16, Norway no. 20 and Finland no. 25.
The report identifies four overarching themes that colour this year’s Index findings as they relate to business strategy, customers and channels including internationalisation; the rise of e-commerce IPOs; the continuously connected consumer; and the need for omnichannel strategies.
Online retail encompasses the following consumer goods categories:
- Beauty and personal care
- Consumer appliances
- Consumer electronics and video games hardware
- DIY and gardening
- Food and beverages
- Home care products
- Housewares and home furnishing
- Media products
- Toys and games.
About the Global Retail E-commerce Index 2015
The Global Retail E-commerce Index ranks the top 30 countries based on nine variables, including select macroeconomic factors as well as those that examine consumer adoption of technology, shopping behaviors, infrastructure, and retail-specific activities. The Index balances current online retail market indicators with those that predict the potential for future growth.
