Copenhagen Airport celebrated its third consecutive record-breaking year in 2013 with 24.1 million passengers, an increase of 3.1%. In December, passenger numbers rose by as much as 5.3%.
Exactly 24,067,030 passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in 2013, representing a year-on-year growth rate of 3.1%.
"2013 ended on a strong note, and our growth rate for the year was higher than most of our competitors among the other European hub airports. This shows that our strategy of strengthening the hub is being effectively implemented. I therefore see the "world champion in route development" award that we received in 2013 as a concrete acknowledgement of our growth in routes and passenger numbers," said Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
International and intercontinental routes were the growth drivers in 2013, as the number of international passengers increased by 3.6%. The number of domestic passengers was largely unchanged from 2012 with only about 32,000 fewer passengers, equivalent to a drop of 1.7%. The number of transfer passengers was up by 0.3%.
Passenger numbers for December rose to just over 1.6 million, which is a record for December and represents a 5.3% year-on-year increase. Growth was recorded in all three segments: international, domestic and transfer traffic.
