The Danish government will allow municipalities to increase the number of international schools in order to improve expat life in Denmark further.
“When a Danish company wants to hire a foreign researcher, offering good working conditions is not enough. It is also important to ensure good conditions for the accompanying family, such as schools for the children”, Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt said in her speech at the Confederation of Danish Industry’s summit in Copenhagen.
A great number of Danish municipalities wish to establish additional international schools, in particular municipalities with one or more large companies with many foreign employees. The Danish government is now prepared to meet their request.
Thorning-Schmidt emphasized that the municipalities will be allowed to establish international schools “where there is a need for it”.
