Copenhagen is a very popular destination for international students.
The number of students from abroad who complete a higher education in Copenhagen is tripled in ten years – from 3,236 in 2002 to 9,726 in 2011.
For several years the City of Copenhagen has focused on making Copenhagen more attractive to students from abroad. To make settling down in Copenhagen as smooth and easy as possible, City of Copenhagen has collected all authorities relevant for international students in the International Citizen Service (ICS).
In the ICS the students can get a Danish civil registration number, a tax deduction card, a health insurance card etc. Every year several hundred students from abroad contact The Copenhagen Business Service about getting jobs in Denmark or establishing their own businesses.
