The International Federation for Housing and Planning (IFHP) is expanding its operations with a Copenhagen based office.
IFHP is a Hague-based worldwide association of institutions and professionals working with housing policy, urban planning and sustainable urban development. The organisation was founded in 1913 and has members from more than 60 countries.
Realdania has a strategic alliance with IFHP and in 2010, CEO of Realdania Flemming Borreskov was elected president of IFHP. He is working to strengthen the organisation and hence the international knowledge sharing.
The international organisation’s presence in Denmark will strengthen Realdania’s key issues nationally and internationally.
- The world's population are increasingly living in cities. Existing cities are growing and new urban communities will arise. How do we, as a society ensure that cities remain to be worth living in? That they are socially and environmentally sustainable? When dealing with such challenges, it makes sense to draw on international experience and IFHP is therefore an important platform, says Flemming Borreskov.
Copenhagen is a hot spot when it comes to urban design, sustainability and liveability and places high on the world ranking of best cities to live in, and thus a good showcase of what IFHP wants to promote.
