Danish Life Science network receives EU Gold Label
04 September 2013
The Danish Innovation Network for Health & Life Sciences, Biopeople, has been awarded the Cluster Management Excellence Gold Label, the highest level a cluster organisation can reach in the European Union. Biopeople is the first European cluster organisation in the field of Health & Life Sciences to receive the award.
The European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI) is the EU-Commission’s quality labeling system for cluster organisations. It’s a stamp that ensures that these clusters are professionally managed and focuses on providing value to members and stakeholders of the cluster. The criteria for receiving the Gold Label include organisation, strategy, finance, members, services, results and recognition of the cluster organisation.
“It is gratifying to see that Biopeople has received such a great recognition from the EU. This goes to show that we have innovation networks in Denmark of highest international standard, which Danish companies can draw on in their development and internationalisation efforts,” says the Danish Minister of Science, Innovation and Higher Education, Morten Østergaard.
Biopeople’s aim is to stimulate innovation through activities that bring researchers and stakeholders together across disciplines, sectors and public-private boundaries. The network organisation helps academia and industry to co-create and develop ideas into new projects, products and services to benefit global health and welfare.
Biopeople embraces and clusters universities, research organisations and hospitals, the Danish Health and Medicines Authority, industry associations as well as pharma, medtech, medical device, food and biotech companies. Biopeople is part of the Danish infrastructure for innovation established and co-funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education.
