Danish Biotech spinning gold from food commodities

One fifth of the global market in food commodity ingredients is controlled by Danish companies, writes Berlingske Business.

While the general Danish political debate mostly revolves around the objective of continuing Denmark’s path towards becoming a hub for high-tech jobs within green energy and welfare technology Danish Biotech has created a goldmine of its own.

About 50 percent of all cheese and a quarter of all bread that is consumed around the globe contains Danish ingredients.

According to the Confederation of Danish Industries (DI), large Danish companies control roughly 20 percent of the global market in food ingredients, which currently amounts to around DKK 200 billion.
