Danish architects to design for Hollywood giants

The film company DreamWorks Animation Studios has appointed the Copenhagen architectural firm 3xN, who has designed the UN City and the Danish National Aquarium The Blue Planet, to design parts of the attraction area DreamCenter in Shanghai.

3xN will be designing an IMAX theatre as well as shops and offices as part of the DreamCenter, which is being developed by DreamWorks in cooperation with Chinese CMC Capital Partners and Lan Kwai Fong Group from Hong Kong.

"We were impressed by 3xN’s design of cultural buildings, which included both social interaction and innovative architecture. 3XN has proven to be the right choice in terms of our vision," says Allan Zeman, founder of Lan Kwai Fong Group.

The project has a budget of DKK 13 billion and is expected to be completed in 2017.
