Copenhagen tops global liveability rankings for European expatriates by ECA International.
Relocating is not always easy. But moving to a city that matches or even improves your living standards makes it a whole lot less troublesome.
If you are a European citizen, Copenhagen and Bern are the cities most likely to be the perfect fit when moving abroad for an international assignment, according to ECA International’s Location Ratings.
“Excellent medical facilities, low crime, good educational institutions, decent air quality and solid infrastructure have contributed to Copenhagen and Bern topping our global rankings for quality of living for European assignees,” said Neil Ashman, Senior Location Ratings Analyst, ECA International.
Work-life balance is big in Copenhagen
ECA’s Location Ratings system evaluates a host of factors to form an assessment of the overall quality of living in more than 470 locations worldwide. The rankings help companies establish appropriate allowances to compensate employees for the adjustment required when going on international assignment.
Factors assessed include climate, availability of health services, housing and utilities, isolation, air quality, infrastructure, personal safety, political tensions, and access to a social network and leisure facilities.
“In Greater Copenhagen, you can have an interesting job, pursue your career ambitions and be an attentive parent at the same time. This is owing to the Danish working culture that offers a high degree of flexibility. In fact, not having to worry about spending too little time with your family is one of the main reasons why many expats say that living in Denmark is great”, says Nikolaj Lubanski, Talent Director, Copenhagen Capacity.
