COP15 TO LAUNCH NEW INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS PROTOCOL
Nov. 17, 2009 | Topic: CleantechWhen the UN is to hold its Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December the conference will be organised in a sustainable way.
A new Danish consortium is to document that COP15 will be a more sustainable and responsible conference and consequently it will open the way for more green conferences and prestigious events.
The conference in Copenhagen is to live up to a new international standard for the organisation of sustainable meetings and conferences.
In this connection a white paper is to be prepared named “Copenhagen Sustainable Meetings Protocol” which is to cement Copenhagen as a globally leading, sustainable meeting destination and serve as reference for the UN in future sustainable and responsible conferences and prestigious events.
With COP15 the consortium will document how to organize sustainable meetings and conferences.
The documentation will be presented to the UN, requesting that future climate conferences and other international meetings be organized according to the sustainable framework set down in Copenhagen.
The consortium is made up of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, VisitDenmark - the National tourism and meetings organisation, the City of Copenhagen, Wonderful Copenhagen Convention & Visitors bureau, leading pharmaceutical corporation Novo Nordisk, and professional conference organiser and sustainability consultants MCI Group. The white paper is to be evaluated by an impartial third party.
