POSSIBILITY OF NEW ROUTES TO COPENHAGEN
Jun. 21, 2010 | Topic: Location and infrastructureThe Irish low-cost airline, Ryanair, has applied for takeoff and landing permission for no fewer than 23 new routes from Copenhagen Airport.
The application coincides with Copenhagen Airport’s opening of the low-cost terminal Swift, which has been launched to attract more of the rapidly growing discount companies to the capital.
Cheaper Tickets
If Ryanair opens in Copenhagen it will mean more cheap fares and increased competition, putting further pressure on Cimber Sterling and Norwegian.
- We are talking with Ryanair and we are in dialogue with many other airlines. Given that we open the low-cost terminal Swift in October, it is not surprising that low-cost airlines are showing an interest," Søren Hedegaard, Head of media relations at Copenhagen Airport says.
By mid-August the airlines are to inform Copenhagen Airport, whether they will use the assigned takeoff and landing permits.
