INSEAD: DANES SUPERB AT INNOVATION
Mar. 15, 2010 | Topic: EconomyDenmark is the fifth best country in the world at innovation, moving up from an eighth place.
That is the result of this year's Global Innovation Index, which has been compiled by the international business school Insead in Fontainebleau, south of Paris, and recently released in the form of a 336-page long report.
Denmark has been ranked number five among 132 surveyed countries. Denmark’s high score was particularly due to our ability to acquire others' inventions and further develop them.
Does not see a problem
Under the heading 'The Danish model for business success' the authors of the analysis say that “the Danish model proves that an innovative community does not necessarily have to come up with a lot of inventions”.
- What people should do in countries that hungers for wealth, is to quickly identify inventions made by others, and very quickly find out how these inventions can be fitted in with the existing society", the analysis states.
The authors of the report also say that the Danish model is based on adaptability, which allows for a small country to compete with big countries like USA and China, and in particular it points to Vestas.
Furthermore, Insead gives Denmark points for being a modern market economy that is in possession of a highly developed technological agriculture and which has a modern and highly developed industry, including both small and large companies.
