DKK 200 MILLION FOR INNOVATIVE ENTREPRENEURS

Jan. 12, 2010 | Topic: Business conditions

The government has allocated extra approximately DKK 200 million for the six innovation environments which are to invest risk capital in new innovative businesses.

In 2010-12 extra approximately DKK 200 million has been allocated for the six innovation environments which are to invest in the earliest stage in which other investors are hesitant, writes erhvervsbladet.dk.

"During the next three years, we will increase the means which the innovation environments invest on behalf of the government by approximately 50 per cent. Moreover we will open for investment of up to DKK 6 million per company against only 4 million so far. The result is that each entrepreneur does not have to raise so much capital and can better bring his project to a stage in which to attract other investors. In this way we comply with a strong wish from entrepreneur circles," says Minister of Science and Innovation Helge Sander.

Half a billion
Already earlier this year the Government has allocated DKK ½ billion for venture capital. This took place through the Danish Growth Fund which has made the capital available for new venture funds for which private investors also have raised a corresponding amount.

"We have a large number of promising young Danish knowledge-companies which can become the growth comets of tomorrow. However they continue to require help for qualified advice and for raising development capital. Consequently I am very satisfied that the government together with the signatory parties to the agreement has prioritized a significant increase of the grants for the innovation environments," says Helge Sander.
