BAVARIAN NORDIC PRODUCT APPROVED BY FDA
Mar. 19, 2010 | Topic: Life ScienceYesterday, the Bavarian Nordic's headquarters in North Zealand celebrated after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the go-ahead for the Danish smallpox vaccine IMVAMUNE to be part of their preparedness against bioterrorism.
"The approval from the FDA is the biggest day in the company's history," says Bavarian Nordic's CEO Anders Hedegaard, according to Børsen.
Subsequently, the company will scale-up the production, in order to increase the production volume, so the 20 million doses will be produced and delivered according to the contract. The first deliveries are expected to take place during first half of 2010
“This conclusion from the FDA marks a major and important milestone for Bavarian Nordic. It was expected, but nonetheless, we now complete the transformation into a fully industrial biotech company. With a full order sheet for the coming years, we are well positioned for future growth and success,” says Anders Hedegaard
