INCREASE IN EXPORTS TO DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Dec. 30, 2011 | Topic: Companies

Danish exports to the least developed nations are growing. The Confederation of Danish Industries is encouraging this development

Danish exports to a number of the poorest countries are increasing and the trend is expected to continue, writes the Jyllands-Posten daily newspaper.

This is the conclusion of a recent report conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs monitoring export development over the last few years. Sales of commodities to Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Kenya are increasing, and these nations in particular are receivers of Danish foreign aid. Despite the fact that exports to developing countries and emerging markets still constitute a small percentage of total Danish exports, this progress is still interesting.

- Danish foreign aid probably has an indirect effect on exports. It makes Denmark visible in these countries and also raises awareness of our activities, so that more companies are aware of the opportunities. It is important that Danish exports are spreading to these markets, and several of these countries are definitely experiencing growth. This is certainly a good time to direct sales to these particular nations, says Marie Gad, Chief Consultant at the Confederation of Danish Industries.

The figures for energy and large individual orders are not included in the report by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
