DANISH BREAKTHROUGH IN CHINA
While the Chinese economy is flourishing, Danish food firms struggle to enter the favourable market.
Danish food firms and the Danish Food Minister, Henrik Høegh, collaborates to make a forward thrust into China’s enormous and continues booming market.
The little mermaid has already been shipped off to the grand world exhibition, Expo 2010, in Shanghai and this week twelve delegates from Danish food firms and the Danish Prince Henrik joins her. The goal is to export Danish food to the Chinese consumers.
It is no mere coincidence that China has been chosen as the next arena for export of Danish food. Agricultural- and food exports already amount to about 5 bn KKR more than a third of the total Danish export to China. Furthermore the Chinese import of food is generally steeply increasing. Concurrently with the growing middleclass, the Chinese consumers’ attention is aimed at high-quality products. This creates interesting opportunities for Danish food firms.
China is experiencing more growth than most countries and the spending power is strong. Even though the recession has resulted in the growth numbers no longer being double-digit figures, it is still a very interesting market.
