SPI – CO-OPERATION ON PROACTIVE INVESTMENT PROMOTION

SPI - “Samarbejde om Proaktiv Investeringsfremme” or in English “Co-operation on Proactive Investment Promotion”. It is a co-operative project between Copenhagen Capacity, the official inward investment agency of Greater Copenhagen, and 15 municipalities located in the Danish capital region.

SPI - creating a stronger platform for business

In Danish SPI is the abbreviation for “Samarbejde om Proaktiv Investeringsfremme” or in English “Co-operation on Proactive Investment Promotion”. It is a co-operative project between Copenhagen Capacity, the official inward investment agency of Greater Copenhagen, and 15 municipalities located in the Danish capital region.

The purpose of SPI is to identify the region’s business clusters and the value chains within these clusters, as well as the geographic distribution of the clusters. This knowledge shall then form the basis for the targeted development of existing businesses, as well as be used to attract more international companies to the region by enhancing the business strategy and business services offered by the municipalities involved.

Main elements of the SPI project

In practice, a quantitative survey of The Danish Capital Region’s business clusters and their geographical distribution, focusing on those that have potential both on the domestic and international markets will be carried out to identify gaps in the clusters’ value chains (lack of suppliers and partners) and their perception of the respective local environment.

The knowledge obtained through the analysis of target groups (clusters and value chains) and local (municipal) clusters shall provide the foundation for developing materials for effective marketing, sales and customer service, and not least a new international website, “Copenhagen Locations”.

Competence development of the participating municipalities in the field of business is prioritized to enhance contact with and service to (international) businesses and create better priorities for business within each municipality.

The project will run from 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2014 and is primarily financed by the EU’s Regional Fund and The Growth Forum of the Danish Capital Region.
