Copenhagen rates second best in Europe for business travel
04-04-2006
Society and living:
Three Canadian cities top the list of the world’s best locations for business travel. Vienna is best in Europe, closely followed by Copenhagen.
Copenhagen is the best location in Scandinavia, the next best in Europe and 17th in the world on a list of the world’s best locations for business travel, according to the Economist magazine. Best in the world is Vancouver, followed by Calgary and Toronto, writes Berlingske Tidende.
The Economist Intelligence Unit has surveyed 127 locations worldwide. In previous surveys only cost-related factors were taken into account, on the assumption that business travel was primarily for client meetings.
Things have changed and the reasons for business travel are becoming increasingly varied. Surveys have shown that conventions, training, corporate meetings and seminars now account for a greater share of business travel than client meetings.
Consequently more factors have to be taken into consideration. The business travel index comprises five categories and 31 sub-categories, including taxi rates, distance from airport to city centre, crime rate, infrastructure, culture, environment, price of a whisky in a hotel bar, cost of living etc.
Copenhagen ranks 17th, on a par with Stockholm and Zurich. Helsinki ranks 23rd, Oslo 40th, Paris 42nd and New York and London 47th and 72nd respectively.
