American game giant sets up in Copenhagen
27-02-2006
Companies:THQ, one of the world’s largest suppliers of interactive computer games, is opening a Nordic head office in Copenhagen.
After more than two years’ intensive dialogue with the company’s European head office in London, Copenhagen Capacity has succeeded in convincing THQ to set up in the Danish Capital Region.
THQ is opening a sales and marketing department with 11 employees who between them will cover the entire Nordic region.
In the long term the company expects to employ about 25 persons.
Throughout the entire process, Copenhagen Capacity has assisted with comprehensive documentation on the advantages of setting up in Denmark. The flexible labour market, access to recruitment of Swedish speaking staff and a new Danish education programme for interactive games are cited as some of the reasons why the capital region was chosen.
THQ, which was founded 10 years ago, has 1,500 employees of which 200 are based in Europe. The company has offices in a number of European countries as well as in Singapore, Korea and Australia. THQ’s games are sold in 77 countries.
