10-11-2005
Society and living:Denmark among top rankings in terms of companies’ social responsibility globally.
Thus concludes the Danish government’s growth statement, which ranks Denmark top in terms of the ability of companies to look after their employees, writes Danish publication I Dag – Industriens Dagblad.
In a survey by Swiss international business school IMD International, which each year measures the level of social responsibility of companies in various countries, Denmark has topped the list for four years out of the last five as the country in the world with the most socially responsible companies.
According to the National Institute of Social Research only few Danish companies show social responsibility for purely financial reasons.
“It is not so much a question of companies making money out of being socially responsible. To a great extent, it is that companies will lose money if they do not show social responsibility,” says Helle Holt, senior researcher into corporate social responsibility at the National Institute of Social Research.
