British Airways 
-Scandinavian headquarter in Copenhagen

First of all, a more efficient organisation and secondly, cost reductions. Those were British Airways’ main motivations for centralising its Scandinavian sales and marketing activities in one central office, and after thorough research Copenhagen was chosen as the best location over Oslo and Stockholm. Among the deciding factors were Copenhagen’s superior conditions for recruiting Danish, Norwegian and Swedish speaking personnel.

- With the fixed link between Copenhagen and Malmö, Sweden is only a 30 minutes’ drive away from Copenhagen. Had we chosen Stockholm it would have been much harder to recruit Danish personnel, states Sam Heine, Commercial Manager for the new Scandinavian head office in Copenhagen. Other factors in which Copenhagen excelled compared to Stockholm and Oslo were the low rent level for office space, the excellent infrastructure as well as the flexibility of the Danish labour market.

- Taking all of these factors into consideration, there was no doubt that the central head office should be located in Copenhagen, says Sam Heine.

The establishment of the Scandinavian headquarters has not only resulted in a more effective organisation with a clear structure and one central, strategic platform; it has also earned British Airways double digit percentage-wise cost reductions.
