Copenhagen and the Øresund Region has a long
tradition for first class research within agriculture and food
processing. This excellence forms the basis of one of the world’s
most developed food sectors.
Øresund Food Excellence is the name of a
co-operation between Copenhagen Capacity, Region Skåne, Invest in
Denmark and Invest in Sweden. The goal is to attract foreign
companies within the food sector to the Øresund Region.
Both the Danish and the Swedish parts of Øresund
represent a significant profile within the international food
industry. The industry is a major exporter of food as well as
technology for food production and food processing. The packaging
company Tetra is one of the world’s largest in its field. The same
goes for Foss in
the field of advanced process control and quality assurance of
food. The recent merger of Swedish Arla and Danish MD Foods has
created one of the world’s largest producers of dairy products.
Other global companies like
Danisco,
Chr. Hansen,
Nestle, Unilever, Master Foods and Campbells have established
headquarters and R&D centres in the region.
For foreign companies the Øresund Region offers

Øresund Food Excellence
Copenhagen Capacity has together with Region Skåne
on the Swedish side of the Øresund Straight establsihed the
organisation "Øresund Food Excellence".
The main task of Øresund Food Excellence is to
assist foreign companies and investors in finding information and
advice on how and why to establish business in the Øresund
Region.
