Following the outline of the Copenhagen Region with the
geographical pattern of a centre and five urban lines or Fingers,
the location opportunities are structured in 10 areas.
The urban centre in the Copenhagen Region is the
Central Business District which holds high quality and cost
attractive office space locations for head quarters but the Central
Business District also has a wide range of short term office hotels
available.
The Copenhagen Airport District is located to the
south adjoining the city centre. The area offers excellent location
opportunities for businesses within transportation and logistics.
Location Ørestad is a newly developed metro district, which is
ideal for any internationally oriented business who requires a
central setting in the region within an intense urban society.
The Central Business District is encircled by the
districts of Copenhagen North and South/West. Main Copenhagen
South/West business sectors are distribution and administration and
the district hosts a regional Transport Centre. The
district also offers sites for manufacturing industries. Copenhagen
North attracts many international companies as a perfect location
for their Scandinavian Headquarters and for companies within IT,
insurance and consultancy.
The Køge Finger is situated to the south of
Copenhagen. The main business sectors in the Køge Finger are
manufacturing companies and distribution industries because of the
excellent infrastructure.
The Roskilde Finger to the west hosts mainly
research related companies due to its extensive technological
infrastructure. Roskilde is an ideal
location for businesses within ICT and
biotechnology/pharma.
The Frederikssund Finger to the northwest hosts a
number of well-known international companies within ICT and
biotechnology/pharma and goes by the name of the Silicon Valley of
the Øresund Region. The Frederikssund Finger is a preferred office
location for large-scale high-tech sector users as well as
insurance companies.
The Hillerød Finger to the north hosts many
high-calibre international and Danish companies within
biotechnology and pharma. Many small businesses have opened
in the area due to the concentration of companies within
biotechnology and pharma. In addition, the Hillerød Finger attracts
a large number of IT companies.
The Helsingør Finger hosts a wide variety of
international and Danish companies within pharma/biotech,
headquarters and distribution and offers an extensive technological
infrastructure due to the presence of a major research park. The
close proximity to Sweden along with a commercial port are
among the main attractions from a business point of view.
It is important to emphasise that the locations are
neither political nor administrative units. However, due to the
physical planning of the region each of the location have a number
of distinctions as listed above.
