Japanese remain in Copenhagen
19-05-2008
Companies:
JVC's Japanese parent company was contemplating moving all its Nordic activities in the Copenhagen office to Stockholm, but have now decided to keep JVC's existing activities in Denmark, where the company has been since 1984.
"We have been contemplating this decision for some time, but all analyses show that it will be best to remain in Denmark," says General Manager Kurt Frausing of JVC Danmark.
Copenhagen Capacity assisted Kurt Frausing in analysing the advantages and disadvantages of a location in Copenhagen compared with Stockholm.
"It has been a great help to be able to present very sober specific figures, graphs and other material to our Japanese owners," says Frausing.
The most important arguments for keeping JVC in Denmark proved to be the flexible Danish labour market and Copenhagen's good infrastructure, with Copenhagen International Airport in particular a significant link to the rest of the world.
JVC developed the VHS video system and is currently developing novel technologies within flat screens, video equipment and sound systems. Production takes place in Japan, the USA and in various locations in Europe.
JVC Danmark will continue to handle sales and marketing in Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland, as well as the distribution of products to radio and IT chains throughout Denmark.
