The United Nations’ organisations in Denmark are to be concentrated at one location in Copenhagen within a couple of years. The new offices are to be completed in the course of 2012 in a building in Copenhagen Port.
This is a newsletter announcement from Arealudviklingsselskabet whose primary goal is to develop the areas in the new town region Ørestad and Copenhagen Port.
The company recently presented a package solution for the area around Langelinie and Marmormolen in the centre of Copenhagen Port.
The new quarter is presently available as a model only; however, during 2012 the UN’s new office premises are estimated to be finished and will be a natural centre for the quarter at Marmormolen. Apart from the UN’s up to 45,000 m² the area will consist of housing, hotel and business with spectacular architecture. The new quarter will be close to public transport and will have free access to the water through a 65 m high pedestrian bridge.
The UN, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Copenhagen Municipality, Arealudviklingsselskabet (which owns the site at Marmormolen) as well as ATP (which owns the site at the end of Langelinie) all agree on the development of the area and they look forward to carrying it out. The introductory project is drawn by 3 X Nielsen and in 2009 the final plans for the new quarter are to be finished.
