Tivoli behind new hotel and congress centre in Copenhagen
25-04-2008
Property and construction:
The Tivoli amusement park has entered into collaboration with the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group on the construction of a large congress centre and hotel in the centre of Copenhagen, to be designed by the famous Danish architect Utzon.
Less than a year after Tivoli had to give up the idea of building a 102-metre high hotel and apartment project near Copenhagen's Town Hall Square, the amusement park has entered into a new licensing agreement for a new hotel and congress project, writes Berlingske Tidende.
Tivoli has formed a strategic agreement with the largest hotel chain in Copenhagen, the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group, to build a hotel with 400 rooms and a congress centre with the capacity to hold 2,500 people at Kalvebod Brygge, situated by the harbour and close to the city centre.
Tivoli's involvement in the project is as creative partner rather than developer, thereby enabling the hotel group to give the hotel a Tivoli theme.
