For the first time ever a delegation of Danish companies has succeeded at entering the coveted design fair in Milano.
Despite world-famous designer companies and internationally known designers it has for many years been impossible for Danish design to participate at the design fair in Milan. This year is different as a delegation from Denmark finally has succeeded at becoming exhibitors, writes the financial daily Børsen.
After thee years of negotiations with the persons in charge of the arrangement, the General Consulate of Denmark in Italy finally got a stand at Internazionale del Mobile 2008 opening April 16 in Milan. Under the title »Pure Creation – Design from Denmark« eight Danish companies will exhibit at Europe’s most important fair with 1300 exhibitors.
According to the organisation Danish Furniture the value of the Danish furniture export to Italy was DKK 250 million in 2007, which was an increase of 14 per cent compared to 2006. It may be mentioned that Danish export to the entire EU only rose 4 per cent in 2007.
Several of the eight companies have been on the waiting list for the exhibition for many years but competition is keen and 355 companies are on the list for a stand.
