Another MIPIM-award to a Danish architect
04-03-2008
Property and construction:
Wilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter is going on the rostrum in Cannes – again. The architect office is honoured for non-detached town houses north of Copenhagen this time.
Danish architects are used to stand on the rostrum by now when prizes are distributed during the MIPIM trade fair in Cannes.
After smith hammer lassen was recently awarded an Architectural Review’s Future Projects MIPIM Award it is now VLA Arkitekter’s turn – once more. The architect office was actually previously honoured at MIPIM. This was five years ago and at the time it was the successful relocation of the terminal in Kastrup Airport, which incidentally was designed by the founder of the architect company Vilhelm Lauritzen, which the jury selected.
This time Vilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter (VLA) received the MIPIM Award for its competition proposal for the non-detached town houses Regimentparken in Farum north of Copenhagen, writes Børsen Business Daily.
Regimentparken is as far as you can get from the air terminal building. Although without cutting off the main thread that goes through all of the architect office's projects. Because the design of Regimentparken is based on the same elegant interpretation of the functions and the clear Nordic style, which have almost become VLA’s signature.
Future Projects MIPIM Award was founded by the influential and globally recognised British magazine Architectural Review. The award and the praise and the publicity are awarded in altogether eight categories and the dinner ceremony is almost worthy of a film festival. It is the MIPIM trade fair’s most distinguished award and it takes place in the extremely elegant Palm Casino at Place Franklin Roosevelt at the Croissette.
