Copenhagen suburb district This Year’s Business District
20-02-2008
Business conditions:
The Capital Region has won the three top rankings in Børsen Business Daily’s new large analysis of Denmark’s best business districts.
Sharply followed by Gentofte, a suburb north of Copenhagen, and Copenhagen Municipality, Albertslund with 27,000 inhabitants west of Copenhagen ranked first in a new analysis carried out by Børsen and Greens Analyseinstitut, writes Børsen Business Daily.
The foundation of the present Albertslund with its many companies was laid in the 1960s. And since things moved fast. The entire number of companies is 1288 of which 44 per cent are single proprietorships and 44 per cent have no less than five staff.
However, now globalisation means that Albertslund will loose several of the large production companies which previously helped keeping the area going. Consequently, the municipality has prepared a business strategy for the first time which is focusing especially on two areas. Firstly, to attract companies with innovative environment technologies and secondly, companies within the so-called event economy.
Both are actually part of a regional focus for the entire Capital Region and Albertslund “happens” to take the initiative.
