Køge to become a Danish logistics centre
19-11-2007
Location and infrastructure:
“If everything goes according to our plan, the transport centres in Taulov and Køge will be the dominating ones in Denmark," says Thomas Kampmann from Skandinavisk Transport Center in Køge to Børsen Business Daily.
The decision about the fixed link to Femern has increased the optimism in Køge which is marketing the harbour and the transport centre together.
“And with the Femern link I am sure that we will also have a railway from Ringsted to Copenhagen – through Køge. And in that case we will have the possibility of creating a large, modern European combination terminal where large railway volumes can be transferred – just as in Taulow,” says Thomas Kampmann.
And the development is thundering along at STC which is actually a one-man-business in which Kampmann is selling the site that the authorities have laid out for the purpose.
Recently HD Ejendomme cut the first turf for the building of warehouse facilities of 60,000 square metres. And consequently approximately 1.3 million square metres have been planned, informs mayor Marie Stærke (S) who is planning to land develop further areas. This would include another one million square metres which according to Thomas Kampmann will make it possible to establish the above mentioned combination terminal which will take up a lot of space and will be fully integrated with the harbour and the transport centre.
