Danish business life: winners and losers in 2007
02-11-2007
Economy:
Berlingske Nyhedsmagasin is publishing a range of detailed accounting figures on 1000 of Denmark’s largest companies in the special edition “Guld1000”. Mesured by turnover the biggest are:
1. A.P. Møller - Mærsk
2. ISS
3. SAS Group
4. Dansk Supermarked
5. Danish Crown
6. TDC
7. Arla Foods
8. Carlsberg
9. Novo Nordisk
10. Coop Danmark
ISS, headed by former Managing Director of SAS, Jørgen Lindegaard is surprisingly going up from a sixth place to a second place.
If one looks at the profit A.P. Møller – Mærsk tops again. But the headstart to Danske Bank has shrunk from DKK 7 billion to 2. Especially because the container business operated at a loss in 2006. TDC is not in top 5 anymore.
Top five (in DKK) are as follows: (1 euro = DKK 7,5)
A.P. Møller - Mærsk
Danske Bank 13.545
Novo Nordisk 6.452
DONG Energy 4.918
Nordea Bank Danmark 4.876
Denmark’s, by far, largest company A.P. Møller – Mærsk is also the company where sales have gone up most. The turnover raised with DKK 54,3 billion – or almost as much as the total turnover in the next biggest company, ISS. It is among other things due to the important acquisitions that A.P. Møller made in 2005. Others too have grown after acquisitions. In April. DSV took over the Dutch company Frans Maas , whilst ISS made 104 acquisitions in 2006. Top 5 are:
A.P. Møller - Mærsk
DONG Energy 4.918
ISS 9.332
DSV 8.957
O.W. Bunker Holding 6.459
