Swedes buy into DTU's research environment
21-08-2007
IT and high tech industries:
With the acquisition of Kasmatic Innovation Swedish Prevas with its expertise in embedded software will enter the research environment as well as know-how about automation and industrial design.
Swedish Prevas group, specialising in embedded systems and last year establishing a business in Denmark through the acquisition of Glaze and IO Technologies, is now for an unannounced amount also swallowing up Kasmatic Innovation, which has expertise within product development.
Some of Kasmatic Innovation’s core competences are within automation and industrial design – areas which according to Prevas’ general manager Michael Carl will match very well the buyer’s target areas in embedded design and intelligent industrial systems.
Moreover, it played an important role that Kasmatic Innovation is based in the Scion Park at DTU.
”Kasmatic's experience of close collaboration with the university environment goes a long way back. We will definitely continue building on the existing relations between business life and research life and we are planning to enter more actively into the research part," says Michael Carl to Ingeniøren.
An obvious side added bonus for Prevas is that in this way it will be easier for the company to attract the sharpest brains within research.
