Life science industries:
A donation for EUR 80 million from the Novo Nordisk Foundation is to create a basis to build a new centre for protein research at the University of Copenhagen.
The largest research donation in recent times promises well for the ability to treat illnesses such as cancer and diabetes more efficiently. With EUR 80 million from the Novo Nordisk Foundation a new centre for research within protein is to be created at the University of Copenhagen, announces the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
From next year the centre will house the world’s leading Danish and international researchers who are to study proteins in humans and their significance for development of illnesses.
- We can boost research into what proteins look like and how they behave and interact in cells and tissues in healthy and sick persons. This insight will provide entirely new opportunities to discover and develop novel medicines, explains Ulla Wewer, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Copenhagen in its press release.
