Denmark continues to be top of the class of the world’s IT countries
03-05-2007
IT and high tech industries:
Denmark again tops the rankings of the most IT ready countries. But Denmark's leadership is being closely pursued by the USA and Sweden.
For the fourth consecutive year, Denmark has retained its top ranking in a major international comparison of countries' IT readiness. Behind the analysis are IBM and the Economist Intelligence Unit business journal, writes the Danish daily Politiken.
The ranking gives Denmark a total score of 8.88 out of a possible 10 points, while both the USA and Sweden score 8.85 points. Hong Kong in fourth position has shown the biggest jump with a score of 8.72. Despite its presence excellence, however, Denmark cannot afford to rest on its laurels.
"Technology leadership changes quickly. Those currently ranking top cannot afford to sit back. New technologies and new approaches to the use of technology mean that hard won advantages may quickly be eroded by quick-off-the-mark competitors," says editorial chief Robin Bew of the Economist Intelligence Unit.
