A large number of Danes are positive about the politicians’ plan about installing giant wind turbines on land. And they are even more supportive if they already live close to windmills, shows a Gallup opinion poll.
The Danes are very satisfied with the government’s plan of installing giant windmills on land to catch the energy, writes Berlingske Tidende.
In general, it does not frighten the populace that the 5,000 small turbines in the scenery are to be replaced by fewer but much larger and more efficient turbines. Two third of the populace approve of the prospect to have land-based giant turbines of 150 meter to handle an increasing part of the future Danish power production. Moreover, sympathy diminishes only a little when the Danes are asked what they think about having the turbines located in their vicinity.
The above are the principal results in an opinion poll carried out by Gallup for daily Berlingske Tidende.
The enthusiasm for the windmills is still held if the power from the sustainable energy source may cost 10 per cent more although in that case the majority for the project is decreasing. 44 per cent think that Denmark is to focus more on wind energy also when it may cost ten per cent more, while 30 per cent do not agree. 26 per cent have no opinion.
